Expectant Mother ~~~ "Make sure she knows you love her for herself. And in a short time, the womb will flush itself of these false hopes. Someday you will look back upon this unfortunate episode with laughter, together." -Dr. Dowsing in "the Infinite Kid" ~~~ Quote: "I understand, everyone always wonders what would happen. Well, now you know....Oh! Do you want to feel him kick?" Prelude: You lost your first child in the delivery room. You were weak and drugged, but you recall hearing him cry before you finally passed out. When you awoke, you didn't believe the doctors when they tried to tell you the child had been dead even before you went into labor. They tried to make it sound like it was your fault for not having arrived at the hospital sooner when you tried to tell them you knew what they were doing. There was little you could do and began to doubt yourself and believe them. You went home exhausted, but determined to do everything right with you next child. You ate right and exercised just enough, but not too much. You avoided doctors more than you should have, but that's understandable considering what you still believed, deep down, had happened. You even avoided the therapist you and your husband were seeing after you got pregnant again, though he continued to go. It all came to a head when you fell from the stepstool in the kitchen and your husband insisted that you go to the hospital. The very same hospital he took you to last time. You didn't want to go, but he was worried and you couldn't tell him your fears. Recognizing a nurse from the delivery room during your first delivery, you panicked. Everything started to come apart for you, starting with the towel you had worn folded under your clothes (which was only there because your clothing pinched you at the waist, and you didn't want it pressing against the baby). Your husband immediately jumped to the conclusion you were faking the pregnancy (a conclusion he was helped to by the therapist after you refused to continue your sessions, no doubt). You were determined to get out of that hospital, for your child's sake more than your own, but they had security standing by and a nurse with a needle (they knew what they were doing, they had it planned). You begged them not to sedate you, worried about the drug's affect on your child, but they didn't listen. You begged=20 your sire in the same way, but she would not listen either. It turned out to be for the best, as it allowed you to escape and=20 your child is safer now than he would have been in that hospital. Now, you're not exactly sure what to do. There aren't any books on prenatal care for the undead and you don't trust doctors, living or undead. Your greatest hope is that things will continue on schedule, and that once you've developed your vampiric powers more, you'll=20 be able to use them to find out what happened to your first child. =20 Maybe when that's done, you can find your husband and show him how wrong he was. Once he sees that, you'll forgive him, of course. In the meantime, your new clan has been more kind and helpful than you could have imagined, with the other Malkavians in the city doting over you like hopeful aunts and uncles, providing you with a haven and the lifestyle you were accustomed to, though you had to leave everything behind [reflected in the character's Backgrounds]. Concept: You'll make a very good mother. Not only do you look after your own unborn child and seek out the one that was taken from you, but you look after the younger members of the clan in your city. They look at you like an aunt, wohse pregnancy is their first experience with the joy of life. Those that are your (apparent) age treat you like a sister, and those that seem older, like an expectant niece. All you ever wanted was a family, and though this certainly wasn't what you had in mind, you have to admit, it fits the bill. Roleplaying Tips: You've been through a lot, you and your baby. =20 You done everything you can to make sure your second pregnancy wasn't the nightmare your first was. You don't mind telling your story, especially not to Malkavians (who tend not to give you *that* look, the ones every Malkavian's familiar with). You'd appreciate help from other vampires, but know enough to be suspicious (especially=20 of the any vampires who used to be doctors). Derangements: Hysterical Pregnancy [Character Note: Iatrophobia (fear of going to the doctor), latrophobia (fear of doctors), or nosocomephobia (fear of hospitals) would make an acceptable derangement for this character's weakness, allowing you greater freedom to choose the nature of the character's pregnancy.] ~~~ Name:________________ Nature:_____Martyr_____ Sire:________________ Player:______________ Demeanor:___Caregiver__ Generation:_13th_____ Chronicle:___________ Concept:____Expectant__ Haven:_Clan_Provided_ ____Mother_____ __Condominium__ Attributes Physical Social Mental Strength_________oo Charisma________ooo Perception______ooo Dexterity________oo Manipulation____ooo Intelligence___oooo Stamina__________oo Appearance_______oo Wits____________ooo Abilities Talents Skills Knowledge Acting ooo Animal Ken oo Bureaucracy oo Alertness Drive oo Computer Athletics Etiquette Finance o Brawl Firearms Investigation oo Dodge Melee Law oo Empathy ooo Music Linguistics Intimidation Repair Medicine ooo Leadership Security Occult Streetwise Stealth Politics o Subterfuge ooo Survival o Science Advantages Disciplines Backgrounds Virtues Auspex________ Herd__________ oo Conscience____ oooo Dominate______ oo Mentor________ oo Obfuscate_____ oo Resources_____ ooo Self-Control__ ooo ______________ Clan Status___ oo ______________ ______________ Courage_______ ooo Other Traits Humanity Health Malkavian_Time oo o o o o o o o o Bruised [] ______________ [][][][][][][][][][] Hurt -1 [] ______________ Injured -1 [] ______________ Willpower Wounded -2 [] ______________ o o o o o o Mauled -2 [] ______________ [][][][][][][][][][] Crippled -5 [] ______________ Incapacitated [] ______________ ______________ Blood Pool Weakness ______________ [][][][][][][][][][] Begin unlife with at ______________ [][][][][][][][][][] least one Derangement
