It's my troupe's most common bitch point. Dissociative blood-spending; it's something like depersonalization - which is a strange disorder. It can range from feeling like you are just a passenger in your body to feeling like you've got some- one else's face to thinking your hand's being controlled by a mind not your own. Basically, your recognition of your own body or the conscious control over it steps out to have a smoke, and you're left with a disturbing disconnection. (Good idea for a Dementation 6 attack. Suddenly, the target's gun hand develops a mind of its own.) > Blood injestion is what separates the crazy vampire from the crazy human. > Give malk blood to a sane human, you get crazy vampire. Well, you get a crazy ghoul at least. :) I think the best approach would be starting with a more common or real-world derangement, then twisting it to get something new out of it. Sanguinary Narcissism: In response to the need to feed, a vampire with Sanguinary Narcissism develops rationalizations to justify a feeding pattern. This can range from paranoia ("I only feed from people who try to piss me off.") to belief that's what the victim wanted ("They all want it. It feels good to them. You've just got to force them so they don't think it's their fault for giving in..."). Psychosexual Feeding Association: In response to the sensation of feeding as pleasurable (in the vampire and the vessel) and a lack of libido found in most vampires, feeding has become a fetish for the vampire. This can limit the vampire's feeding to his or her preferred sex partners, compel the vampire to feed only in private or cause the vampire to feel intense shame at feeding. As with any other derangements, it is not a derangement if the condition does not interfere with the vampire's 'normal' life; derangements like this should not be handed out to characters who would not be burdened by it. Feeding-Fixation Hypochondria: In response to fears about feeding, the vampire is constantly in the shadow of the fear of having con- sumed bad blood. The vampire will worry that some disease will be taking hold, some drug is affecting him, or that some condition in the vessel was passed on. This is different from the Sanguinary Animism derangement in that the vampire doesn't believe that blood carries part of the vessel's spirit and that affects the vampire; Feeding-Fixation Hypochondria is an obsessive worry that the blood may have some mundane contamination. The vampire may be fearful with the idea of having accidentally taken blood from a faerie or werewolf without realizing it, for example, but would not think a normal human or even vampire would pass on such traits through the blood - that would be superstitious in the vampire's opinion, when there are real reasons to worry, like hemorrhagic fever or cocaine or who-knows-what. -Vis.
