Hello there, my friend. Are you so eager to delve into the realm of madness that is the Malkavian clan? The tale behind the creation of the Malkavians is one of daring adventure, astounding mystery, and unsettling brilliance. Very well...don't say I didn't warn you....
It all starts with an earthquake. Wait, no, that's something different. This starts...well...I could say it all started with this thing we like to call the Horrendous Space Kablooie, which all those boring scientists insist on calling the Big Bang. But we don't care about most of the stuff that happened up until Caine came along. Caine, cursed by God to wander the earth for killing his brother Able, was the first vampire. Oh, and if any of this bothers you excessively, feel free to go ahead and assume none of it is real. Anyway, Mr. Man Caine gets bored, and decides to make some progeny. And he does-he makes a few little vampires. Then he feels bad, so he takes some prozac (Booooo) and leaves for a while. While he's gone, his childer get bored, and decide to make some kiddies of their own.
And this is where things get interesting, for Malkav was one of these vampires created. My Main Man Malkav is the founder of our lovely little clan here. He later goes on to make some vampires of his own (notice a trend?), who eventually transmogrify into the Malkavian clan. (Oh, and in case it matters later, all the other kiddies get their own clans too, and all the vamps created by Caine die.) So, Malkavians are a clan of vampires created by Malkav, the coolest homie dog ever to be. One other thing you might like to know-all Malkavians are completely insane. Yup. Nuttier than a walnut. You see, Malkav was obviously Caine's favorite, being just too cool, and so Caine generously allows his madness to be passed on to all of his vampiric descendants. So, Malkavians are insane vampires. Right. Clever reader.
Now that you've got a good history lesson about Malkavians (hope you paid attention-your exam is next Tuesday), you might appreciate a tad bit of info about what some of the modern Malkavians are like. Unfortunately, even more so than the other clans, Malkavians are all individuals. Each Malkavian is different from each other Malkavian. It's very difficult, if not impossible, to relate any or all of them together, so take everything further put down here with a grain or ten of spilled salt. Anyway, on to the point. Malkavian "core beliefs" are widely interpreted and misinterpreted. It has been theorized that there are none, or that it is everything from making everyone insane, through anarchy, to a magical paradise. They're all true, and not true, in some form or another. Another thing which seems safe to say is that Malkavians are predisposed to three main disciplines, or vampiric abilities. The first of these is Auspex, the use of heightened awareness. The second is Dominate, the ability to command the minds of others. Third is the discipline Obfuscate, which is the art of remaining hidden and disguised. Anyhoo, that's just a taste of Malkavianism.
